A great Way to escape the summer heat is to spend a morning at Ventura Harbor and Channel Islands National Park visitor center. Cool breezes, art galleries, boats, and shops galore all await us to come and explore all the Harbor has to offer.
At the Channel Islands National Park visitor’s center a simulated tide pool lets us take a peek into the inhabitants of the sea and tides. Sea stars, urchins, sharks and mussels are fun to watch as the water flows in and out like the tide does. Outside there is a garden that contains the native plants that can be found out on the Channel Islands. If you visit here be sure to watch the movie about the Channel Islands the photography is amazing!
Strolling along the walkway through the Harbor Village many tile murals depict sea life, our favorite was the one of the sea otter. An arcade houses an old fashioned carousel and other fun games for young and those of us who are young at heart. This photographer can’t resist taking some shots of the many pretty and unusual plants and flowers in the gardens and along the walkways.
We had a great time and had a lot of fun capturing these photos, we hope you will enjoy!
“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
