ShutterHeart Stories Launches New Website
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moorpark, CA –ShutterHeart Stories will launch a website devoted to photographic nature stories for patients and care givers on May 10, 2015.
ShutterHeart Stories is a collaborative effort by volunteer photographers who donate their photos to be shared on the website to bring nature to patients who are unable to spend time outside due to medical treatments or therapy. One of the challenges faced by patients are the stress or feelings of isolation which can be reduced by viewing scenes from nature. Likewise their family members or care givers spend time in waiting rooms, or are unable to get outside due to caring for the patient. Others served will be those in care facilities, shelters, and veteran’s centers where clients are undergoing rehabilitation or other care.
Fundraising efforts will seek to raise funds for purchasing tablets or monitors to be distributed to treatment centers or patients who are not able to afford the devices to access the website. Wall mounted monitors will be provided to treatment centers with slideshows featuring nature photos to be placed in waiting areas or treatment rooms.
ShutterHeart Stories is accepting donations of photos and the details of how to submit photos can be found on the website. Contributing photographers will be credited on the website and links to their other work will be available.
Our current project is to compile photos representing all the letters of the alphabet which incorporate the letter and an animal or bird representing the letter. For example the letter “C” in a photo with a Cat. We would like this to be available on the site and be age appropriate for small children who may be patients or waiting for a loved one.
